Andor iQ3

Andor iQ is our flagship live cell imaging software. iQ - image and quantify - occupies a central role in our Revolution confocal and Photostimulation product range. iQ provides optimized control of Andor's award winning iXon EMCCD and sCMOS cameras in synchronized combination with a number of additional imaging hardware devices, addressing a range of bioimaging applications. Use iQ to run experiments to investigate dynamic processes in single cells through to multi-cellular systems, perform routine imaging of fixed samples, and generate 3 dimensional image volumes for analysis.

  • New Simplified 6D user interface for rapid setup and tuning
  • New User management – per user settings and ImageDisk
  • Dedicated Photostimulation device control – Ablate, Bleach, Activate
  • “Flexible Protocols” for advanced routines
  • Improved integration with Imaris

Andor iQ is designed from years of experience and understanding of the demands that capturing highly dynamic cellular processes impose. iQ integrates a range of additional hardware for multi-parameter and multi-modal imaging, including devices such as confocal scanners, light sources including our own laser combiner, filter wheels and x,y, & z motorized stage control. Automation of this hardware with image capture is tightly controlled for optimum capture rates, and to minimise unnecessary light exposure for prolonged live cell imaging.

Recognizing that most biologists do not have time to learn a complex user interface, and that live biology frequently demands immediate attention, iQ3 provides a radical new user interface designed with workflow and rapid configuration in mind. In addition, IQ3’s new user management capabilities make life easier for both the user and the facility manager to create and manage personal settings, protect experimental configurations and images between users, and track time spent on systems for auditing. For all users of iQ this means a more efficient work flow and better productivity.

In addition to providing an Andor system solution, iQ can also be independently used with our Photostimulation devices dedicated to light manipulation techniques such as optogenetics, optophysiology, photobleaching (FRAP), photoactivation, photoconversion, ablation, uncaging and D damage. iQ will control these devices when fitted to 3rd party systems that have no dedicated software support of their own, capturing images from the host software for calibration and targeting.

iQ can be used for a range of bioimaging applications such as 3D live cell imaging, TIRF, ion imaging, bioluminescence and FRET. This makes iQ ideal for many research fields including cancer research, developmental biology, neuroscience, embryology, stem cell, and plant biology; capturing images from small subcellular components such as vesicles up to whole samples such as zebrafish and drosophila embryos. Continuous development and improvement ensures that Andor iQ represents a powerful and flexible core for live-cell imaging systems.

Single GUI to capture multi-dimension image series. - Time efficient workflow for rapid parameter setting and minimal user training.

Store settings such protocols, channels, data storage locations per user. - Protects user settings to ensure nothing is over written. Experiments and illumination settings can be shared between users via export/import.

Records activity based on users and hardware configurations. - Track the time users spend on a system for auditing purposes (e.g. for charging hourly rate).

Advanced interface available, on selection, for complex multi-modal imaging routines. - Provides a programmable tree structure to build complex imaging experiments for those with more demanding application requirements.

Proprietary storage solution. Saves data direct to hard disk avoiding Windows file swapping. - Handles large data sets with ease, providing fast data review and manipulation

Quantify data as it is captured. - Histogram and line profiling for single or multi-channel data on live or stored data.

3D, multi-channel, maximum intensity projection view. - Provides quick review of data in 3D volume, including through time series.

Image capture and analysis features for photobleaching experiments. - Dedicated, published, algorithms for the analysis of cell dynamics using the FRAP technique.

Ratiometric algorithm-based analysis for ion imaging. Kymograph tool, multi-channel alignment, Image Math. - A range of tools are provided for core imaging techniques used to evaluate cell and system biology. Providing fast feedback on experiments.

Supports use of Python scripts - Interface with iQ from other software tools and tailor functionality according to your needs.

Tools for creating movies from captured experiments. - Complex movies can be made merging different dimensions (e.g. time and then volume) for data review and presentation.

Runs from image captured from desktop window or webcam-like source - Permits the use of iQ to drive complimentary hardware components (e.g. Photostimulation device) along-side non-Andor imaging systems
